Not A Smooth Ride For Electric Scooters In Europe, Bumpy Road Ahead

Electric scooters may have gained momentum on the smooth California streets but the going may not be as easy in Europe. The two main hurdles in the smooth going of electric scooters in Europe remain the tram lines and cobblestones.

New scooter models can to some extent traverse fearlessly on the cobbled streets without causing too much of an upheaval in one’s body but all are unfortunately not so endowed. However, from an optimistic point of view this is only the first start of the scooter movement; one can hope for better innovations to come in the world of electric scooters which can get them moving irrespective of environmental challenges.

But for now, there are several issues to be tackled; overcrowding being one of the major ones. Strict legislations regarding the use of electric scooters though have helped to some extent in this context. The city of Berlin has set an example for others to follow as they have regulated the scooter movement ahead of time.

Nevertheless, unheeding pedestrians that have to be watched for while riding an electric scooter requires some careful maneuvering considering the already existing obstacles of cobbled streets and tram lines in the cities of Europe.

The Mayor of Paris has even thought of restricting the scooter operator numbers and limiting the scooter numbers moving within the city in order to reduce overcrowding and rising incidences of accidents. As for London, there is a lot of indecisiveness with regard to allowing for the plying of scooters on its roads which had been banned so far into the city. If the ban is lifted for the cause of green transportation then implementation of strict regulation will alone decide their success.

In any case, with greater regulation, development of better models and replacement of cars with green transportation, scooter issues plaguing Europe will be sorted out. Companies involved in their deployment though have a tough road ahead.
